North American Province
The Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady North American Province makes its home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Sisters live in communities In Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Monroe, Louisiana, depending on the healthcare ministry or other work they may support.
The North American Province also operates a mission in Aquin, Haiti, approximately 86 miles form the capital of Port Au Prince. For years the conditions in Haiti have been dire and the Sisters have provided important stability and access to healthcare for many Haitian families in the countryside. Following the massive earthquake of 2010, the conditions are even more desperate. Sisters continue to operate the clinic and travel regularly between Haiti and the U.S. securing much needed supplies, funding and prayer for the on-going work of the Mission.
Team members of the sponsored hospitals and healthcare facilities continually support the Sister's mission. A few team members travel each year to offer direct services. More frequently, there are drives for dry goods, food staples and financial support which are well supported by the local efforts.
